'Imagine That' Issue #12
January 29, 2023 - New Years Resolutions and the Imagination Spectrum
Hi my friends and thank you for subscribing to ‘Imagine That’. And especially thanks for reading this newsletter!
January 1st started out normally like every other January 1st, with resolutions. I made several in regard to reading and writing. Approaching the end of the month (already), my resolve is not going so well. In fact here’s a little rhyme describing my January. Maybe you can relate?
Resolving for new year with a beer and a wink
While stopping to think.
All of a sudden the month is gone
Just like a mole in the lawn.
My resolve did not happen so well,
In fact, January was the month out of hell!
Don’t worry, I’m not planning on becoming a poet any time soon. I’ll stick with writing science fiction and mental health articles for now.
Speaking of mental health, I came across the word ‘aphantasia’ and decided that it applied to me somewhat, so I did an article about it on Medium, which you can read here if you’re interested.
Aphantasia, Images, Dreams, Hallucinations, and Hyperphantasia
Aphantasia is the inability to see images in your head while hyperphantasia is the inability to stop seeing them! I am somewhere in between the two on the ‘Imagination Spectrum.’
The Imagination Spectrum is determined by a test that you take and then paying money to get your results. I haven’t found any other way to figure out where on the spectrum that I am or if it’s just in someone’s imagination that there is even a spectrum.
The Imagination Spectrum assessment - $19.99 at last glance
I’d be interested to know if you decide to take the assessment and what your results are. Let me know in the comments, maybe you can be the pioneer and I’ll follow along. Or maybe I’ll decide to take the lead in this and let you know in a future newsletter.
Thanks for joining me in this issue of ‘Imagine That’. I’ll be seeing you soon!

January? I don't remember much of it though I'm sure I accomplished a lot. (real or imaginary is irrelevant) February fast approaches and I aim to make it better than January.
January has been a little bit of a blur to be honest. Managed to keep the newsletter going which is a bit of a relief. I was concerned about getting back in to a busy period of work and managing that at the same time.
January can be really grim though. Days are getting longer. All good from here on in!
